The Superintendent of the Windham Northeast Supervisory Union (WNESU) is actively seeking a dynamic, student-centered, and visionary leader to serve as the next Principal of Bellows Falls Union High School (BFUHS). This is an exciting opportunity to lead a community-centered school while continuing to build a collaborative culture focused on excellence, equity, and continuous improvement.


About Windham Northeast Supervisory Union (WNESU)

WNESU is a close-knit supervisory union committed to serving the whole child through strong instruction, supportive relationships, and collaborative leadership. WNESU serves four school districts: Westminster School District, Windham Northeast Union Elementary School District (also known as Athens/Grafton School District), Rockingham School District, and Bellows Falls Union High School District #27. The SU employs more than 350 employees and serves approximately 1,000 students.

Leadership Vision

The Superintendent is focused on accelerating and continuing the school’s success by ensuring consistent resources, strengthening cross-departmental collaboration, and maintaining high standards for teaching and learning for all. Central to this vision is a robust “Bridge” strategy between Bellows Falls Middle School and BFUHS, alongside expanded partnerships with the River Valley Technical Center (RVTC) to ensure every student graduates career-ready.

 

The Principalship at BFUHS

The Principal of BFUHS will serve as the instructional leader and cultural steward of the school, working closely with students, families, staff, and the broader community. The Principal will lead a dedicated team of faculty, collaborative administrators, and engaged operations staff.

The Principal is expected to model the highest standards for leadership, aligned with the Vermont Standards for School Leaders and the Professional Standards for Educational Leaders (PSEL).


Key Responsibilities Include:

Mission and Vision: Lead a shared vision for high-quality teaching and learning grounded in equity and collective responsibility.

Proficiency-Based Learning: Oversee the refinement of Proficiency-Based Graduation Requirements (PBGRs) to ensure clear evidence of student mastery.

Personalized Learning: Champion the use of Personalized Learning Plans (PLPs) to ensure inclusive practices that honor student voice and address diverse learning needs.

NEASC Accreditation: Lead the faculty through the NEASC accreditation cycle, ensuring rigorous follow-through on growth plans and continuous improvement.

Systemic Transitions: Collaborate deeply with Bellows Falls Middle School, WRCC, and RVTC to manage school systems that support teaching and learning effectively.

Professional Capacity: Develop the collective efficacy of staff through coaching, feedback, and shared leadership.

Culture and Climate: Foster a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment that supports student and staff well-being.

Community Engagement: Build authentic partnerships with families and community stakeholders to support student success.
