August 2024 State Examiner Is Available

We know you may still be clearing the cobwebs from the long weekend! Be sure to peruse the August 2024 State Examiner. This month's edition reviews state legislation and fiscal conditions affecting ESAs and their schools. It includes curated state budget and finance news, highlights key research, and offers an advocacy tip on using digital tools to enhance public education advocacy.

You Asked, We Delivered: Expanded Workshop Opportunities in Business Strategy and Entrepreneurship

During July's Summer Leadership Conference, we received numerous requests for more opportunities focused on business strategy and entrepreneurship within the evolving educational landscape. In response, we’ve outlined these created opportunities below.

The Business Strategy Framework 1.0 workshop comprises a set of thought-provoking questions designed to foster critical thinking about your ESA as a business.

Building on the strategies from the BSF 1.0 workshop, this session dives deeper into competitive strategy and AI application. It focuses on mastering the art of navigating strategic uncertainties, forging AI partnerships, and optimizing organizational strategy for maximum impact.

Final Day to Reserve Hyatt Regency at Conference Rate

We are diligently preparing for the Advocacy in Action Conference later this month which provides in-depth information that ESA leaders need to equip them for their advocacy both in Washington, D.C. and back home. We hope you are making plans to join us at the Pre-Conference on September 25 and the main conference September 25-27, 2024!

 

Upon Registration

Add the $100 Pre-Conference under the "Additional Items" on the registration page. A block of rooms have been reserved at the Hyatt Regency Capitol Hill for conference attendees. The hotel reservation deadline is September 3, 2024 (TODAY). A link to reserve your room will be provided after your conference registration is received.

Court Grants FCC Request for Stay (for E-Rate and Universal Service Fund)

The 5th Circuit Court has granted the FCC's request for a stay following a decision that questioned the constitutionality of the funding mechanism for the Universal Service Fund (USF). This stay allows the USF program to continue operating without disruption until the stay expires or a higher court, such as the Supreme Court, issues a ruling. Read more here.

The EmpowerED Superintendents edLeader Panel monthly broadcast series, co-hosted by CoSN, AASA and edWeb.net and sponsored by ClassLink, begins Season #7 on Monday, September 9, 2024, at 5:00 pm Eastern Time, with a focus on Leading Education Technology Innovations: Current Challenges and Solutions. During the live broadcast, three leading edge, innovative, superintendents engage in a conversation focused on the results of the recently released CoSN 2024 State of EdTech Leadership Survey.
