The 501(c)(3) Advantage: New Opportunities for ESAs

The 501(c)(3) Advantage: New Opportunities for ESAs

Tuesday, October 13, 2026 (2:00 PM - 3:00 PM) (EDT)

Description

Could an affiliated 501(c)(3) help your ESA access new funding, expand programs, and advance its mission?

This webinar will explore how ESAs can strategically use an affiliated nonprofit to open doors to charitable contributions, grants, scholarships, professional learning, and special initiatives.

The timing is especially important. Beginning January 1, 2027, the new Federal Scholarship Tax Credit will create another potential avenue for private support of K–12 education in states that choose to participate.

Participants will explore:

  • Why an ESA might establish or maintain a 501(c)(3)
  • What the new Federal Scholarship Tax Credit could mean for ESAs
  • Fundraising, grants, scholarships, and other opportunities
  • Governance, tax, compliance, and organizational considerations
  • Common pitfalls to avoid
  • How to make an existing nonprofit a more strategic asset

The session will be led by Valentina (Tina) G. Viletto, Esq., AESA Governance and Policy Advisor, who brings extensive experience in tax and nonprofit law, including previous service as a trial attorney with the U.S. Department of Justice, Civil Tax Division.

Whether your ESA already has a 501(c)(3) or is considering one, this webinar will help you identify the questions to ask and the opportunities you may be missing.
